Dr. Amy Tiemann is an award-winning author and educator who is interested in cultivating positive cultural change, from an individual level to our highest institutions and public policies. She is co-authoring a new book, Doing Right by Our Kids: Protecting Child Safety at All Levels, and is the Center Co-director of Kidpower North Carolina, teaching personal safety skills to people of all ages. She served on UNC’s Title IX Task Force that recommended major changes in the way the university handles sexual assault complaints between students. Amy received her PhD in Neurosciences from Stanford University in 1996, and she continues to apply her research expertise to all her work. She has extensive Board experience; in addition to Lillian’s List, she currently serves NC League of Conservation Voters board. Past board service includes the North Carolina Council for Women, WUNC North Carolina Public Radio, and the North Carolina chapter of The Nature Conservancy. Amy has lived in Chapel Hill for 14 years with her husband Michael and daughter Miranda, a student at Carrboro High School.
