2020 Incumbent Featured Candidates

Lillian’s List Incumbent Featured Candidates are champions of reproductive freedom and equity for women. Each of them is running a strong, modern campaign for re-election in 2020. We’re honored to help them maintain their seats in the General Assembly and Council of State.

REP. GALE ADCOCK

Gale is running for re-election to House District 41 in Wake County.

Gale was the primary sponsor of HB 393, which makes it illegal to drug someone’s drink, leaving them susceptible to assault.

REP. CYNTHIA BALL

Cynthia is running for re-election to House District 49 in Wake County.

Cynthia was the primary sponsor of HB 948, a bill that provides universal pre-K for all North Carolinians.

REP. MARY BELK

Mary is running for re-election to House District 88 in Mecklenburg County.

Mary was the primary sponsor of HB 29, or the Standing Up for Rape Victims Act, which requires testing for all sexual assault exam kits.

REP. DEB BUTLER

Deb is running for re-election to House District 18 in New Hanover County.

Deb was the primary sponsor of HB 514, the Equality For All bill, which would protect all North Carolinians from discrimination.

REP. BECKY CARNEY

Becky is running for re-election to House District 102 in Mecklenburg County.

Becky was the primary sponsor of HB 764, a bill that would establish a task force in North Carolina for women’s cancer research and prevention, particularly addressing inequities in medical care for minority women.

REP. ASHTON CLEMMONS

Ashton is running for re-election to House District 57 in Guilford County.

Ashton sponsored HB 271, a bill that would allow North Carolina to adopt the Equal Rights Amendment.

REP. CARLA CUNNINGHAM

Carla is running for re-election to House District 106 from Mecklenburg County.

Carla has been fighting to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment since she was elected. She was a primary sponsor of HB 271 which would accomplish that goal.

REP. ALLISON DAHLE

Allison is running for re-election to House District 11 in Wake County.

Allison was the primary sponsor of the major criminal justice reform bill HB766, which would revise our marijuana laws.

REP. SUSAN FISHER

Susan is running for re-election to House District 114 in Buncombe County.

Susan was the primary sponsor of HB 271, a bill that would allow North Carolina to adopt the Equal Rights Amendment.

SEN. VALERIE FOUSHEE

Valerie is running for re-election to Senate District 23 in Orange & Chatham counties.

Valerie was the primary sponsor of SB 660, a bill that expands workplace harassment punishment and prevention at the General Assembly and beyond.

REP. ROSA GILL

Rosa is running for re-election to House District 33 in Wake County.​

Rosa sponsored HB 29, or the Standing Up for Rape Victims Act, which requires testing for all sexual assault exam kits.

REP. PRICEY HARRISON

Pricey is running for re-election to House District 61 in Guilford County.​

Pricey was the primary sponsor of HB 46, which would mandate equal pay for equal work and expand the state-wide minimum wage.

REP. VERLA INSKO

Verla is running for re-election to House District 56 in Orange County.

Verla was the primary sponsor of HB 594, a bill that aims to ensure that incarcerated women have healthy pregnancies and births.

REP. CAROLYN LOGAN

Carolyn is running for re-election to House District 101 in Mecklenburg County.

Carolyn sponsored HB 152, a bill that would expand criminal charges against offenders convicted of sexual battery.

SEN. NATASHA MARCUS

Natasha is running for re-election to Senate District 41 in Mecklenburg County.

Natasha was the primary sponsor of SB 402, which makes it illegal to drug someone’s drink, leaving them susceptible to assault.

ELAINE MARSHALL

Secretary of State Elaine Marshall is running for her sixth term on the Council of State. ​

Elaine was the first woman elected to statewide office in North Carolina. Sec. Marshall is a former recipient of Lillian’s List’s Courage Award for her leadership and dedication to equality for all women.

REP. MARCIA MOREY

Marcia is running for re-election to House District 30 in Durham County.

Marcia was the primary sponsor of HB 515, which would repeal House Bill 2 in its entirety.

SEN. GLADYS ROBINSON

Gladys is running for re-election to Senate District 28 in Guilford County.

Gladys was the primary sponsor of SB 223 which provides more benefits to caregivers.

REP. EVELYN TERRY

Evelyn is running for re-election to House District 71 in Forsyth County.

Evelyn was a primary sponsor of HB 271 which would ratify the Equal Rights Amendment in North Carolina.

SEN. JOYCE WADDELL

Joyce is running for re-election to Senate District 40 in Mecklenburg County.

Joyce was the primary sponsor of SB 244 which restores master’s pay for teachers.

BETH WOOD

State Auditor Beth Wood is running for her third term on the Council of State.

Beth was the first woman elected to the position of State Auditor in North Carolina and only the second CPA.  Wood has saved NC taxpayers millions of dollars during her time in office.
