Thank you so much for your interest in Lillian’s List’s campaign staff trainings! Please read this entire page before you apply via the purple link at the bottom of the page.
In 2019 we will be hosting two campaign staff trainings. Campaign Staff Bootcamp will be September 28-29 and is for people who already have a job on a North Carolina progressive campaign. The second training, Jamie Kirk Hahn Academy will be from November 22-24 and is for people seeking a job on a North Carolina progressive campaign in 2020. There is one application for both trainings and Lillian’s List staff will determine which training you will attend. Both trainings are application based and space is limited to 40 people per training. Each training is open to people of all genders.
We expect all trainees to fully participate in the entire training. If you cannot make it for a large part of the training you will not be accepted.
Campaign Staff Bootcamp will be held in a hotel in Raleigh. It will be approximately 9AM-9PM on Saturday and go from 9AM-2PM on Sunday. The registration fee for this training is $50 and there are no other associated fees. Attendees coming from out of town will stay in a nearby hotel. Applications for this training are open until July 21st and you will be contacted in July about your status. Resumes for this training are due by July 21st.
JKH Academy will be located at a retreat center in Rockfish County. The campus we’ll be on is both alcohol and smoke free. The approximate schedule is 1PM-10PM on Friday, 9AM-9PM on Saturday, and 9AM-1PM on Sunday. There will be two people per room at the retreat space. There is no other accommodation available. The retreat space is ADA compliant. After the training Lillian’s List will create a job bank of trainee’s resumes and share them with campaigns around the state to help trainees find jobs. The registration fee for this training is $50 and there are no other associated fees. Applications for this training are open until July 31st and you will be contacted in August about your status.
Topics covered at both trainings: lay of the land, fundraising, communications, field, budgeting, polling, mail, etc.
We typically receive a high volume of applications for these trainings. As a courtesy to other trainees, if you become uninterested in attending or unavailable during the weekends the trainings are offered please contact our Program Manager Devon Roberts to remove yourself from consideration. If you intend to work on a campaign in 2020 but then find other employment and no longer can, please contact Devon. If you find a job on a campaign after you’ve applied, please contact Devon so you can be moved from consideration for Jamie Kirk Hanh to Campaign Staff Bootcamp.
