Former Sen. Margaret H. Dickson was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2002, defeating a three-term conservative Republican. She chaired several significant committees, including the House Committee on Commerce, Small Business, and Entrepreneurship and the UNC Board of Governors Nominating Committee. Governor Beverly Perdue appointed her to the North Carolina Senate in 2010. Margaret Dickson is a retired broadcasting executive and lives in Fayetteville, NC. She serves on a number of other boards, including Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina, the Women’s Forum of North Carolina, the North Carolina State Bar, and the UNC-CH General Alumni Association. She is the mother of three adult children.
