Rachael Estes is a Policy Analyst at the North Carolina Conservation Network (NCCN) where she advocates for effective environmental protections statewide on behalf of NCCN’s 120,000+ members. Her portfolio includes clean energy, climate change, and toxics. Prior to NCCN, Rachael worked in Washington, D.C. as a Legislative Aide for US Representative Kathy Castor (D-FL). As a Legislative Aide, she was responsible for all US House Energy and Commerce Committee matters and served as the lead staffer for the Pro-Choice Caucus and the Gulf Coast Caucus. During her time on Capitol Hill, she also served on the Board of the Women’s Congressional Staff Association. This bi-partisan organization served more than 600 female staffers by providing them with networking opportunities, leadership conferences, mentoring programs, and volunteer opportunities. She received her Master’s degree from Duke University where she served as the President of Sanford Women in Policy and worked with Lillian’s List to study ways to increase the number women running for public office. She also holds a BA in Journalism from UNC-Greensboro.
