Alicia has a passion for health communications and promoting reproductive health justice for all. She received her MPH from the Department of Maternal and Child Health at the Gillings School of Global Public Health in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Prior to beginning her graduate degree in public health, Alicia served as a team leader with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC), where she volunteered in disaster relief and urban development in the Southeast. Through this experience, Alicia gained insight into how intersecting systems of oppression shape social determinants of health. Alicia is also a trained postpartum doula and hopes to support LGBTQIA+ families in North Carolina.
