Valencia Handy, a political consultant dedicated to getting more women elected to public office with more than 25 years experience as a grassroot organizer working on numerous campaigns and with several issue-based and partisan organizations. She has led many extensive grassroots and strategic efforts for political candidates at the national, state, and local level. She has consulted on campaigns for Governors, US Senate, US Congress, State Legislature and other down ballot races. She has worked with the North Carolina Democratic Party, Georgia State Democratic Party, Virginia State Democratic Party, North Carolina State House Democratic Caucus, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), as well as with key staff of the DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison.
Valencia is inspired by the recent influx of women wanting to be leaders in their communities. She has helped the campaigns of several women running for office on the federal, state, and local level by giving them tools they need to succeed. Her advice to girls: find your passion and work towards it. Girls should consider a career in politics, she says, because it’s a great way to make a difference in people’s lives.
Valencia is a 2003 graduate of Fayetteville State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry with a minor in Criminal Justice, 2008 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill Master’s in Healthcare Administration, and a 2021 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis School of Law where she received her Master’s degree in Legal Studies (MLS). Handy is also a graduate of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute political bootcamp and The Campaign School at Yale.
Valencia has been awarded both locally and nationally for her active involvement in the community. She serves on the board of directors for a number of organizations and has held positions in numerous state and local community organizations and civic commissions.
She enjoys spending time with her children, family, friends, traveling, and eating great food.
